Hello Tomorrow!                              back to UACRM

What UACRM Is – A Student's Guide

The University Associate Certified Risk Managers (UACRM) designation is an early certification program designed to help you gain a competitive advantage in the world of insurance and risk management.  It’s a resume-enhancing credential available to university students before they graduate.  It is available to both undergraduate and graduate students at participating universities.

UACRM is a career springboard—the designation will set you apart. You will enter the job market more prepared for life after class. This designation forms a solid foundation for a career in risk management.

Additionally, the UACRM allows you to complete two of the five parts of the Certified Risk Managers (CRM) Program, an internationally recognized, professional designation.  You will then have five years to complete the remaining three parts in order to receive your CRM designation.

What It Takes

Requirements:

  • Register for the UACRM Program through your university faculty.
  • Complete an approved commercial risk management course with a passing grade.  (You will need a simple form signed by your professor stating that you have passed the course.  We do not need a formal transcript.)
  • Complete a second CRM course and receive a passing grade on the exam.
    • This second course can be completed while you are taking the approved commercial risk management course using the support material that The National Alliance provides.  Your professor will help to mentor you through this part of the process.

  • Receive your designation at the state conferment (optional) where you will have a chance to receive recognition for your efforts and network with insurance agency and company personnel.

About the CRM Program

The Certified Risk Managers Program is comprised of five, 20-hour risk management courses:

  • Principles of Risk Management
  • Analysis of Risk
  • Control of Risk
  • Practice of Risk Management
  • And Financing of Risk

Students with the UACRM designation get a jump-start on earning the CRM designation; they will only need to take three remaining courses to complete it. The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research and the industry’s leading risk management practitioners developed the CRM Program in 1997. Today, it is recognized as the most practical risk management education available. CRM courses provide the fundamental elements and advanced knowledge and skills that distinguish a risk management professional.
